Please remember that all monetary donations will go directly to the children of the SOS Children's Village in Thailand. Any amount, big or small, will bring us closer to our goal of bringing these orphans a little bit hope, help, and love.

 

Why?

Visiting an orphan village is probably not what most people would imagine as their dream vacation. But then most people probably have never tried. Ever since my first trip to the SOS Children's Village in 2003, I cannot imagine a more fulfilling and amazing place to spend my holidays. Why? Because there are very few things in this world that have seen as much destruction and loss as these orphans have. And yet, they have the most beautiful souls and smiles I have ever encountered. This is what this charity event is all about. I want to give these kids something to smile about. I want to give their souls something to hope for. And I want to show these kids that this world cares about them.

It took the children less than twenty minutes of playing and goofing around to adopt me as their “big sis.” They hugged my legs and hips as if they never wanted to let me go. As great as the material need of any orphan may be, this moment of having dozens of kids begging me to stay showed me that their need for love and attention may even be greater than a full belly.

They touched my heart like only suffering children can. From this moment I knew that I would do everything in my power to ease the pain that life has caused them. As you read this today, I am asking you to donate a few dollars so the orphanage can hire qualified caretakers who will give the children a little of the attention and affection every child deserves. I ask that you give a few hours of your time and join us for “A Night to Save Lives.”
